Best Cyber Monday Deals 2010: Super savings on clothes, shoes, beauty, electronics and more

Cyber Monday 2010 kicked off with aggressive online promos by big-name retailers like Macy's, Sears and Best Buy that began in the wee hours.

In years past, most shopping sites started their Monday-after-Thanksgiving online marketing blitz at 6 a.m. That's changed this year, said Fiona Dias of GSI Commerce, which runs more than 100 retailers' websites. Retailers are rolling out their deals earlier than ever - and consumers stand to be the big winners.

"Cyber Monday is the day when the best deals are available," Dias said.

On macys.com, hot offers included $600 one-carat sapphire earrings for $199. On bestbuy.com, $999.99 60-inch Mitsubishi high-definition TVs were $599.99.

Dias expected a big spike in online sales to come around noon - a combo of East Coast shoppers taking a break from work to slip onto company computers or their mobile phones and West Coast shoppers piling onto home computers before heading to their jobs.

She expected another big buying spike at 9 p.m., when shoppers in every time zone will be home, and online trolling for one-day only bargains, website-wide percentage markdowns and free shipping for even the most minimal purchases.

Retailers hope Cyber Monday will be able to build on the momentum that online shopping started to gather over Black Friday weekend.

One-third of Americans who shopped from Thanksgiving Day through Sunday did their buying online - a healthy 15.2% increase from last year, a National Retail Federation survey found.
